Out & About

The tower is situated in the corner of the owners’ land and is within very easy walking distance of the village centre  (about 300 metres). Here there are two café-restaurants, a mini-supermarket, a bakery, newsagent/post office, cash machine, pharmacy, hairdresser and an English-speaking doctor.  The village is renowned for its early August “brocante”, or street antiques fair, and holds regular outdoor night markets.

Although the village has plenty of amenities we highly recommend bringing or hiring a car as there is no bus service to speak of and taxis are expensive.

In the surrounding area – canoeing on the Dordogne (5 minutes’ drive), golf at Chateau Vigiers (25 minutes’ drive), wine tasting at various chateaux, two market towns – Castillon la Bataille and Sainte Foy-la-Grande (both 15 minutes away), the UNESCO town and vineyards of St Emilion (25 minutes).

Further afield is the beautiful city of Bordeaux (about an hour) and, to the east, the historic town of Bergerac (45 minutes).
